Get support

Current and former foster youth (up to age 26) can get extra free support through their existing Medi-Cal health insurance plan. This support, called Enhanced Care Management, takes a little bit off of caregivers’ plates.

3 things to know about Enhanced Care Management

1 - Get help coordinating their appointments

If your foster child qualifies, you’ll get connected to their personal care manager. This trained professional can help you schedule all types of medical appointments, coordinate with school and social services, and more.

2 - Free help will come to you

Your care manager can meet you wherever is best for you, like a doctor’s office, coffee shop, or wherever you’re living.

3 - Every child has different needs. Enhanced Care Management supports their unique situation.

Whether your foster child needs mental health support, school support, or something else, their personal care manager can work within the system to make it happen. If your foster child qualifies, they’ll get support for 12 months before needing to re-enroll. The best way to start is to call their Medi-Cal health insurance plan.

  • A list of doctors or providers they see (like their pediatrician, eye doctor, or others)

  • A list of challenges that make taking care of their health harder
